Makers Markets

Back at the end of August I was contemplating selling opportunities and considering my options for travelling to markets and craft fairs. and weighing up costs of stalls etc. including environmental costs of travel - and my mind turned to the small community hall in my street. I wondered about setting up a little exhibition of my work and thinking safety in numbers asked my Artist friend, Lucy, if she would like to join me. She was enthusiastic and from that first conversation our Makers Market was born. We selected 5 dates from October to December and hired the hall. We worked hard to promote the first market spreading the word in local press and radio, standing out in our small town giving out leaflets, posting on social media and talking to all our friends. That first market was a great success and we have been overwhelmed by numbers of makers and producers who want to take up a stall. We are now just about to start planning dates for next year.
